When can I start volunteering?
In order to volunteer with the Greenville Humane Society, you must complete the required volunteer paperwork and attend an orientation.
How will I be alerted to GHS closing and other reasons, which might impact my volunteer shift?
Closing resulting from hazardous weather conditions:
In the event our facility will be closed, due to inclement weather, an announcement will be made on WYFF News Channel 4. In addition, it will be posted to the wyff4.com website.
Critical announcements will be posted to the Greenville Humane Society’s facebook page and/or website. Volunteer alerts can typically be located on one of the following pages of our greenvillehumane.com website: homepage header, calendar.
I missed my assigned shift and/or need to change my volunteer schedule. What do I do?
Volunteering is a 2-hour commitment, each week, during your scheduled day and time.
Absence notification is only required if you have missed (or will miss) more than 3 consecutive shifts. Missing more than 3 allotted (consecutive) shifts will result in your dismissal from the program, and your name will be removed from the schedule.
Temporary Leave of Absence:
If you must take a leave of absence, lasting more than 1 month, you will lose your shift and be removed from the schedule. You must attend a volunteer orientation in order to reapply for the program. Registration is required for all volunteer orientations.
If your schedule has changed and you wish to a different volunteer shift, please email the Volunteer Coordinator. Please understand that we cannot meet all requests.
Where can I find volunteer announcements, news, instructions, and/or special event opportunities?
For volunteer news, please check the volunteer board, located outside the Volunteer Workroom.
