Services
Besides feeding, housing and providing medical care for the tens of thousands of unwanted animals in the Greenville community, we also provide the following services:
Adoption
Placement of healthy animals with responsible and caring individuals is one of the Greenville Humane Society’s most important goals. Each prospective owner is required to sign an adoption contract promising to provide proper care and treatment of the pet being adopted. On average, the GHS finds homes for nearly 400 animals per month. That’s a lot of success stories!
Spay and Neuter Clinic
The Spay and Neuter Clinic offers low-priced surgeries to help Greenville residents help control the pet population. Do your part! Have your pet spayed or neutered today!
Vaccination Clinics
The Greenville Humane Society hosts several low-cost vaccination clinics for any pet throughout the year. Vaccination clinics are held every Tuesday from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. For more information, please contact us.
Rescue
The Greenville Humane Society works closely with several breed rescue groups – for a list of partner rescue groups or if you know of a rescue group that is interested in teaming up with the Greenville Humane Society, please contact Lisa Norris.
Foster Program
Dogs and cats with minor, temporary health issues who might otherwise be euthanized due to lack of space at the shelter are temporarily placed with a foster “parent” until their health is restored and can be put up for adoption. As a foster parent, you are never under any obligation to keep the animal. You may return your foster pet to us at any time, for any reason. You can foster as much or as little as you like. All you need is a spare room (even a bathroom) and some spare time. We provide all supplies and any necessary medications.
Pet Therapy
Our pet therapy programs reach over 4,800 patients in local hospitals and nursing homes each year. GHS volunteers take puppies to retirement centers, rehabilitation facilities and hospitals to share a little love with those who do not have pets of their own.
Volunteer
The work our organization accomplishes every year would be impossible without the generous help of our volunteers and donors. The Greenville Humane Society has many ways that you can help the animals.
Education
As the number of stray and unwanted animals in Greenville County grows every month, we realize that educating the public about ways to help control the pet population and the types of services we offer is an important role of the GHS.
