Roundworms (ASCARIDS)
Roundworms are the most commonly found worms in domesticated animals. The worms are round and whitish in color and look very much like pieces of spaghetti. The roundworms travel in the intestines of host animals and can at times be viewed in the vomit or feces of an infected animal. Roundworms enter a host animal’s body when the host animal ingests the eggs of the roundworm. Infected female dogs can also transfer the larvae of the worms through their milk to their puppies. Your veterinarian can perform a fecal exam on your pet to detect the presence of roundworms. If the worms are present, your veterinarian can administer medication to aid your pet in eradicating the worms from their body.
